Show the examiner a list of at least 12 books you have read in the last 12 months. Explain why you read them, what you thought and answer some questions about their contents. This book list should include both fiction and non-fiction with not more than three books by any one author.

Show the examiner a short bibliography dealing with a subject in which you are specially interested. Explain your choice of books to the examiner and answer questions about their contents.
2. Describe in simple terms how a book is produced.
3. Show that you know how to use a library catalogue. Explain how fiction and non-fiction books are arranged on the shelves and why they are treated differently.
4. Know what is meant by a reference book. What sort of information could you obtain from the following books, how are they arranged and how you would use cross-reference: NZ Encyclopedia or Pears Cyclopedia, Who’s Who in NZ, New Zealand Year Book, Guinness Book of Records, Encyclopedia Britannica (or other set of encyclopedias).
