Venturer Scouts are young people aged 15 to 19 A Venturer Unit elects an executive committee from amongst it members and they organise activities for themselves, with guidance and support from adult leaders.
Venturers can work towards their Young New Zealanders' Challenge Award (Duke of Edinburgh's Award) and the Queen's Scout Award- the highest award a member of Scouting can earn.
The Lyttelton Sea Venturers are planning to build themselves a website over the coming winter (at the moment they are much more interested in being out in the summer weather sailing, rowing, and tramping)
